1. Introduction

WeddingsLink ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. Data We Collect

Account data: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (hashed — never stored in plain text).

Wedding page content: Names of partners, wedding date and venue, photos, story text, and other content you enter to build your wedding page.

Guest data (submitted by your guests): RSVP responses including guest names, email addresses, phone numbers, meal preferences, and messages. This data is submitted voluntarily by your guests and is accessible only to you.

Baby Gift Registry data: Registry title, gift items, and claim submissions from guests (name, email, message).

Billing data: We do not store credit card details. Payments are handled by Paddle. We receive and store a Paddle Customer ID and transaction IDs for account management and audit purposes.

Technical data: Log data including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This is standard server logging.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To create and manage your account
  • To display and deliver your wedding page and registries
  • To process one-time payments and manage your access via Paddle
  • To send transactional emails (RSVP notifications, claim notifications, access expiry reminders, password resets)
  • To respond to support inquiries
  • To improve the Service through aggregate, anonymized analytics

We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We do not use your data for advertising.

We use only essential cookies required for the platform to function:

  • sessionid — keeps you logged in during your visit.
  • csrftoken — protects forms against cross-site request forgery attacks.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

6. Data Retention

  • Active account data is retained as long as your account exists.
  • When a wedding page or registry access expires, the content enters a 30-day grace period. After the grace period, all associated content (photos, RSVPs, gifts, story) is permanently deleted. Your account is not deleted.
  • Upon account deletion request, all your data is permanently deleted immediately.
  • Guest RSVP and registry claim data is deleted along with the associated page content.
  • Server logs are retained for up to 30 days for security monitoring.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Objection: Object to certain processing of your data.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • Passwords stored using Django's default PBKDF2 hashing
  • Database access restricted to application servers only
  • Media files stored in access-controlled cloud storage

No system is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you as required by law.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email and by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
